Research questions for a Japanese lolita Part 2. Poll #1508325 Research for a Japanese Lolita Part 2.
Open to: All, detailed results viewable to: All, participants: 144 How old are you? At what age do you think you will stop wearing lolita fashion? Why do you wear lolita fashion? Do you think lolita is gender specific / What are your opinions on men who wear lolita fashion? This last question they ask is a bit personal, but feel free to answer in the comments if you wish: •What is your personal view on the opposite sex? An example they give is that maybe some women might turn to lolita as an escape due to violence committed by men via abuse or rape, etc. If you don't have enough space in the poll for your answers, again feel free to discuss in the comments. Again, these are not my questions, but a friend of mine on Mixi who is doing a research paper on lolita fashion outside of Japan. They asked me to help with the questionnaires as egl is the largest online community of lolitas they have found. If you missed the first part of their questionnaire, it can be found here: http://community.livejournal.com/egl/14519919.html |

Any shoes on Amazon.com that might work?
I'm in a bit of an odd situation...we're really broke right now, but I got a $70 amazon.com gift card for Christmas and I've been commanded to ONLY spend it on non-necessities. Therefore, I really want to use it to purchase a few things to wear to my first ever lolita tea party. I have already picked out the petticoat I want (a malco modes one) but also wanted to find some shoes. I want flats, as I'm really REALLY frickin tall, and I would like them to be white or light purple. My searching skills don't seem to be up to par tonight, as all I'm finding are point-toe heels >_< does anyone have any suggestions/recommendations? For reference, I'll be wearing a medium-dark purple high-waist skirt with white and lavender trim, a white blouse, and a white petti. Does anyone have any sock suggestions, also? I need ones that will fit my thick calves (18 inches of bicycle-riding muscle...sigh). Thanks! |

egl_comm_art - Post-holiday competition reminders!
Greetings from one of the mods over at egl_comm_art! For those who don't know of us, we're a Lolita art community, centered around the sharing and critiquing of Lolita-based art, regardless of skill level and level of completion. Need suggestions on what direction to take a certain piece? Afraid of your work getting torn to pieces by the general egl community? Come join egl_comm_art and post your work! In addition to being a safe haven for uncertain artists, we also do art competitions. The currently running competitions are: January's theme: Photography - The object of this theme is to create a photography piece, where you're either the photographer or the model (or both!). The deadline for this competition is January 23rd! More information on this theme can be found here. Contest #4 - Wonderland - The object of this contest is to create a piece and accompanying icon to be used in the community, depicting your own personal Wonderland or a Lolita/Alice in Wonderland crossover. The deadline for this competition is February 15th! More information on this contest can be found here. You must be a member in order to enter our competitions. Artists and lurkers alike are all welcome to join, just please read our rules before posting. |

Name: Kelsey or Joss Age: Twenty Five Gender: Female Location: Southwestern Ohio, United States. About me: I really don’t know how to explain myself as a person in a intro like this. I like to read, I like history, and I am kind of a nerd. I could go on like this for pages and pages. I am pretty goofy but I am also very kind. I would really like to get a snail mail pen pal because I think it would be fun, and I love stationary. Eventually if we hit it off perhaps we could send small gifts back and forth (numerous factors permitting). Along with written letters some emails and instant messages would be alright. I am looking for someone close to my age but understand age is only a number. I only speak English but I am willing to try to learn other languages. Interests: Books/Reading, Sewing, History, Art (especially French Impressionism), Video Games, Jewelry Making, Lolita, Steampunk, Shoes, Clothes, Harry Potter, Wicked, Tabletop RPGs I'm not so fond of: Meanness, Ignorance, The Twilight Series, Grammatical Absurdity, The fact I am a terrible speller. My Style: I have only recently begun trying to incorporate Lolita into my everyday wardrobe. I tend toward more Casual and Classic styles due to my age and height (5’11”) I feel it would be very hard for me to pull off Sugary Sweet Lolita but I still appreciate it. I love color especially Jewel tones and I love to incorporate unexpected colors into my every day clothes. Due to my current job I am really unable to dress in a manner I would prefer.
Favorite Quote: "Avoiding danger is no safer in the long run than outright exposure. Life is either a daring adventure, or nothing. " - Helen Keller The best thing about Lolita: Lolita is unexpected, I love that it is a style based around modesty and the allure that includes. I love the colors, shapes, patterns the idea behind it, and the way it feels to dress in a Lolita style and then realize you are acting nicer, speaking sweeter, and moving more gracefully. Thank you very much for reading. If you have an interest please feel free to email me at kelseybenoit@gmail.com Current Mood: hopeful |
